“Nothing is beautiful from every point of view.” Horace, Roman poet, 65bc-8bc
As you can guess, sometimes it’s hard to find funny things to write about in today’s world, except for modern politics, which we find hilarious but avoid because too many people take it all so seriously. Like many other things however, politics depends on your point of view, and that is the topic for today – point of view. Every individual has a different point of view about most anything you can think of. We thought it might be fun to take a look at a few points of view by using pictures instead of words. So, in a break from our usual satire, today we offer a visual tour of “your point of view.”
First up is something near and dear to us all – where we live.
How you see your house:
How your neighbor sees your house:
How the tax appraiser sees your house:
Now something to put inside the house, say a new couch. You go to the furniture store and…
This is what you see:
This is what your wife sees:
This is what the cat would see if invited along:
This what you’re going to inherit from your mother-in-law:
Point of view even comes into play when cleaning the house.
When you vacuum, you see this:
Your wife, girlfriend or significant other says, “Let’s go out to eat!”
In her mind, she sees this:
This is what you see:
You think it’s time to trade in the car for a new model. You have a discussion with the family about it. Everyone gives their viewpoint about the existing family car.
This is what you see in your driveway:
This is what your wife sees:
This is what your still-to-launch son sees:
Last, but not least, it’s Saturday night, time for a movie! Everyone heads out to the video store (yes we are aware of Netflix) and peruse the shelves.
This is what you see on the shelf:
This is what your wife sees on the shelf:
This is what you’re going to see because the grandkids are visiting:
So, armed with this new view of viewpoints and points of view, we invite you to submit your own ideas (or pictures) to forboomersonly@gmail.com. We will keep you anonymous if you wish. Happy viewpointing!
